In the bookshops and cafes of present-day Paris, ex-psychologist Gabe Figaret is trying to put his shattered life back together. When another doctor, Reynard, asks him to help with a delusional female patient, Gabe is reluctant... until he meets her. At first Gabe thinks the woman, Angelina, is merely terrified of Reynard, but he quickly discovers she is not quite what she seems.

As his relationship with Angelina deepens, Gabe's life in Paris becomes increasingly unstable. He senses a presence watching and following every move he makes, and yet he finds Angelina increasingly irresistible.

When Angelina tells Gabe he must kill her and flee to a place she calls Morgravia, he is horrified. But then Angelina shows him that the cathedral he has dreamt about since childhood is real and exists in Morgravia.

A special 10th Anniversary edition of her first fantasy book, Myrren's Gift, will be released in December!

Mercury Retrograde – Stars by Kim Falconer

‘Mercury at the Wedding of Psyche and Eros,’ by Pompeo Batoni

August 21 – September 13, 2010

The next three weeks have a two-steps-forward and one-step-back vibe. It can be frustrating in regards to programs, flights, bookings, letters, documents and communiqué of all kinds. Electronic can be tricky. The best approach is to discover what irks you in your life (what you tolerate) and either get rid of it or see it in a better light. Retrograde Mercury says, Rethink, retreat, regroup, reconsider, reorganise, redress. Hints for individual signs below. You can share the kerfuffle here. There are bound to be some smiles amidst the calamity.

RAM: The area to reconsider during this period is your lifestyle. Is it really what you want, or are you there because of circumstances ‘beyond your control?’ Take stock of your day-to-day—diet, exercise, healthy care, comfort zone and routine. What would you change, if you could?

AUROCHS: The three C’s, children, crafts and creativity, have your attention but they are keeping you from the one true concern—your love life. This is a time to communicate with your lover in new ways, or call one in if you desire. Wish fulfilment is possible. Just say yes.

TWINS: Thoughts turn to home and family now with conversations buzzing around schedules, remodelling, relocating and deep cleaning. This is all symbolic of a deeper strata soul experience. Give yourself enough ‘me’ time to appreciate the inner growth and development.

COBRA: The next three weeks could be a little nuts when it comes to the written or spoken word. You say one thing and they hear another. Emails, sans body language, get misconstrued. Don’t even think about text msg. Use this time for journaling, and speak as concisely as possible.

LION:  Ask yourself what pleases you! Our core values change over time but we often forget to upgrade them. Use this Mercury Rx to get in touch with what really gives you a sense of peace and happiness, then let go of the outmoded trends and actions. Awareness is always the first step.

CERES: Your ruler retrograde may not feel like the most powerful time of year but it can be if you take the time to slow down and reflect. Key questions revolve around self-expression and creativity. Are you allowing yourself to reach your highest level of potential? If not, why not?

BALENCIA: Mercury retrograde in the house of secrets and dreams may mean a confidence must be kept, even if you are busting to tell. This may not be deception but a moral dilemma is involved. In the midst, creative inspiration rises. Do what you must to get it down on paper.

SCORPION: Among other things, this is a good time to rethink your goals and all the like-minded-others they keep you connected to. Are you authentically aligned? If so carry on but if not, you might want to find yourself a new crowd, one supportive of your true aspirations.

ARCHER: If you are bored in your current career path, these next three weeks will be particularly tedious. Rather than grin and bear it, consider this a sign from the universe to switch tracks. There are many options out there, with many opportunities. Get exploring!

SEA-GOAT: Commitments and  travel plans can go haywire leaving you wondering why you wanted to go anywhere in the first place. Deep breaths. Take your time and allow for wiggle room on either side of your trip, be it literal or flights of fancy. All is well when you let it be.

WATER-BEARER: Mercury Rx in your house of shared resources has you reconsidering any joint financial arrangements, both income and debt. As you sift through the confusion, you’ll have a chance to organise this aspect of your life in a new way. Restructure the boundaries.

FISHES: Communication with partners both business and personal goes down the rabbit hole. Maximum muddle. This isn’t the best time to come to any firm conclusions based on statements delivered or received. Use your gut feelings to make all choices in the next three weeks.

  1. Hey, are you telling me my plans for travelling to Melbourne are gonna go horribly wrong? Look, I know that when I travel things usually go wrong in some comedic fashion, but I won’t get to make that afternoon tea date with you if it happens this time!

Speaking of which, could I get a time, day and place for that? I gotta start updating my diary.

    • Not horrible wrong! As a matter of fact, any detours can lead to a surprisingly wonderful adventure. It’s definitely a good time to muse, reflect and review. Just allow a little more time for getting places and a little more patience when communicating to . . . anyone. Wait until Mercury turns direct to pitch new ideas 🙂

Looking forward to catching up! Friday arrive midday and have no panels (will see you at the party!). My Saturday is free between 11:ish and 15:00. Sunday avo is good and Monday morning would work. Let me know when you’re free.

      • Well, according to my diary we’d arranged for Saturday morning. I have a panel at 3pm but other than that I’m free, so why don’t we do 11am?

      • I’m glad you have a diary! 1100 sounds grand! See you there!

      • OK, where shall we meet?

      • Okay, 1100 Saturday is going to find me here. My son can’t make it so I’m taking notes.

  2. Greetings,

I’ve decided to relocate “back” to the state of North Carolina for a better education and quality of life for my only son. We formerly resided in Eden, NC in 2007 which was a refreshing experience, yet my separation from my ex-husband spurred the departure (from NC) of my son and I. Now, three years later, I’ve been making phone calls to a different area of NC (Chapel Hill) and investigating school and housing options. In fact, we’ll be vacationing in NC from Christmas to New Year’s Day. Although I realize starting anything is highly discouraged during mercury retrograde, I did apply for an apartment online yesterday. Nothing has been sealed, signed and/or solidified yet. How should I proceed with this relocation process considering we’re in mercury retrograde. We’re not due to move to NC until February, but arrangements will have to be set beforehand. I welcome your feedback.

    Mia 🙂

    • Mia, because you are going ‘back’ to NC, making arrangements for it now, reflecting on all the opportunities it has to offer, is perfect timing. That you are going there over the holiday season is great as well.

Proceed with clarity, optimism and confidence. Set an intention for how you want things to turn out and remind yourself of it often. Think ‘Onward and upward!’ The key is to focus on the outcomes YOU want and pay attention to the things that are going your way. Moving is always ‘big’ so plenty of self-nurturing is important. Treat yourself VERY well and things will fall into place.

      Good luck with your move!

      • Thank you immensely for your prompt reply Kim. Your insight was very reassuring to me. On the other hand, I did connect with a gentleman on an online dating website last Sunday and our phone conversations are becoming increasingly more magnetic. Once again, I know that it isn’t wise to start anything new, yet we’re just beginning to get to know one another and will meet during a happenstance vacation the last week of December. Of course a romantic relationship hasn’t been declared, but the mutual interest is undeniable. However, I welcome your feedback regarding this.
