Fiona McIntosh was born and raised in Sussex in the UK, but also spent early childhood years in West Africa. She left a PR career in London to travel and settled in Australia in 1980. She has since roamed the world working for her own travel publishing company, which she runs with her husband. She lives in Adelaide with her husband and twin sons. Her website is at www.fionamcintosh.com.
Her latest book, The Scrivener's Tale, is a stand-alone and takes us back to the world of Morgravia from her very first series, The Quickening:
In the bookshops and cafes of present-day Paris, ex-psychologist Gabe Figaret is trying to put his shattered life back together. When another doctor, Reynard, asks him to help with a delusional female patient, Gabe is reluctant... until he meets her. At first Gabe thinks the woman, Angelina, is merely terrified of Reynard, but he quickly discovers she is not quite what she seems.
As his relationship with Angelina deepens, Gabe's life in Paris becomes increasingly unstable. He senses a presence watching and following every move he makes, and yet he finds Angelina increasingly irresistible.
When Angelina tells Gabe he must kill her and flee to a place she calls Morgravia, he is horrified. But then Angelina shows him that the cathedral he has dreamt about since childhood is real and exists in Morgravia.
A special 10th Anniversary edition of her first fantasy book, Myrren's Gift, will be released in December!
well, that first chapter definitely has me wanting more! I want to know more about Chess and her job, the “drugs” she is taking (legal? illegal?) and this whole thing about compensation from the Church for hauntings! I think I’m going to have to find this book.
In her world … illegal 😉
but I shall not say more yet! The book is out in June – yes, we’re whetting your appetite … but we’ll look at putting up a wee bit more. The entire office is obsessed with this book – and rightly so! And its a series of three – coming out June, July and August!
if the three books are coming out one after the other in June/July/August, can I just say I’m stunned to see that? (and VERY excited) Nothing worse than discovering a trilogy (or series) you like and having to wait a YEAR in between stories. LOL. And for the competition, I can’t work out where we submit our answers?
I love the first charpter its left me wanting to read more .The mysterious Sanfords .I love the way Dunlop tried to escape the wrath of Chess and the pills she had to take to bring her back to normality .I love it my story i just love to read
Awesome first chapter! I like the fast paced writing style and the ‘world building’ that happens without exposition. I’m loving Chess and very interested in who Bump is and how he relates to her addiction (if it is one)and what’s going to happen next!
So glad this series is coming out back to back at monthly intervals. Great idea!
