    About The Scrivener's Tale:

In the bookshops and cafes of present-day Paris, ex-psychologist Gabe Figaret is trying to put his shattered life back together. When another doctor, Reynard, asks him to help with a delusional female patient, Gabe is reluctant... until he meets her. At first Gabe thinks the woman, Angelina, is merely terrified of Reynard, but he quickly discovers she is not quite what she seems.

As his relationship with Angelina deepens, Gabe's life in Paris becomes increasingly unstable. He senses a presence watching and following every move he makes, and yet he finds Angelina increasingly irresistible.

When Angelina tells Gabe he must kill her and flee to a place she calls Morgravia, he is horrified. But then Angelina shows him that the cathedral he has dreamt about since childhood is real and exists in Morgravia.

A special 10th Anniversary edition of her first fantasy book, Myrren's Gift, will be released in December!

Kim Falconer’s Astro-Mojo for January 5-11

What will 2010 bring for you?

Author Kim Falconer has some advice to start 2010 in the best way possible:

Aries: This New Year will take you to heights unexpected in the realm of career, mission and profession. Pull all the stops! Become what you are meant to be. The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. You can do anything you decide to do. –Amelia Earhart

Taurus: Intense intimacy, financial revelation and mysterious encounters will grace your New Year. You have been training for something, and this is it. Be brave! To really ask is to open the door to the whirlwind. The answer may annihilate the question and the questioner.–Anne Rice

Gemini: Partnerships and socially significant relationships are discovered, forged, re-aligned and re-established in the New Year. This is not a time to walk alone, no matter how much easier that is. Reach out! We waste time looking for the perfect lover, instead of creating the perfect love. –Tom Robbins

Cancer: Light will shine on everything you do this year, bringing honour, distinction and recognition. You have the power to create what you want, so think about it. The lover knows much more about absolute good and universal beauty than any logician, unless he too be a lover in disguise. –George Santayana

Leo: This year brings a change of residence, shift in the home, family or immediate environment. You will make a beautiful sanctuary with those you love so let go of those you don’t. Warning signs that a lover is bored: 1. Passionless kisses, 2. Frequent sighing, 3. Moved, left no forwarding address. –Matt Groening

Virgo: Future hopes are reflected this year in your circle of friends. Watch how they change! The secret to becoming more than you already are is hidden in the throng. I told my psychiatrist that everyone hates me. He said I was being ridiculous – everyone hasn’t met me yet. –Rodney Dangerfield

Libra: Links with relations at a distance enhance this year as contacts you desire are attracted to you. Words can heal and bring wealth, and all forms of meaningful communication will improve. It is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or tedious. -Oscar Wilde

Scorpio: Romance will bless your life with all the creativity, emotional bonding and heart felt warmth you can imagine, or want to imagine. Consider the space for children, yours or others’, in your life. A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five. –Groucho Marx

Sagittarius: Travel is on the agenda for 2010! Start planning now to expand your horizons in ways you’ve only dreamed of. Your view of the world is going to surprise you. The only thing that makes life possible is permanent, intolerant uncertainty: not knowing what comes next. –Ursula LeGuin

Capricorn: A fresh vein of resources kicks in this year giving you a sense of creativity and fulfilment. The more you define your values, the more you express from your heart. From without, no wonderful effect is wrought within ourselves, unless some interior, responding wonder meets it. –Daisy Bates

Aquarius: This is a year for dreams to come true. The more you focus on your inner desires, the more they will actualize fully in your life. It’s limitless! I’m astounded by people who want to ‘know’ the universe when it’s hard enough to find your way around Chinatown. –Woody Allen

Pisces: This year brings new attire, new attitude and a new and improved sense of Self. Ambitions rise as you get in touch with more of who you are. I drank to drown my pain, but the damned pain learned how to swim, and now I am overwhelmed by this decent and good behaviour. –Frida Kahlo

  1. But all my dreams came true *last* year! I’m gonna have to think up some new ones, pronto.

  2. Hey Katie, Aquarius then?

That’s the beauty of dreams coming true–you can always aim higher, dream bigger, reach for the stars 🙂 Happy New Year!

    • Indeed!
Actually, different astrological charts disagree on my star sign. I’m 20th January, so some of them say I’m Capricorn, and others say Aquarius. Guess I get to choose whichever one has the more attractive horoscope.

  3. The cusp of each sign can fall on a different day every year depending on when the sun moves into the next sign (and where you are on the planet). When they say Aquarius Jan 20 to Feb 19 (or something close to that)it’s general and not always accurate.

You are definitely one or the other and that can be determined by a quick check (praise the gods for astrology programs–it used to take hours to work out by hand.)Email me your date (year) time and place of birth and I tell you where all your planets are 🙂

    • 20th of January 1986, Chinese Year of the Tiger (woo!). I’m a Fire Tiger, to be exact. How much more awesome can this get??

In fact, this is the Year of the Tiger again, so this year will definitely be good for me.

      • Oh, and place of birth was Canberra, Australia. The Canberra Hospital that got blowed up, although not until after my parents got me home, thankfully.

  4. Tiger years v. good for you!

What time were you born? That’s the key to this puzzle now 🙂

    • I think about 1:00 in the morning? That’s the estimate my mum made.

      • Capricorn, then, my dear! 29 degrees of Capricorn sun! Moon in the earthy Taurus and intense and potent Scorpio rising! You do have Jupiter in Aquarius though and one of my old teachers used to say that our ‘public face’ was often linked to where our Jupiter was found.

        🙂

  5. It looks like if you were born before 7:46 PM the sun was still 29 degrees of Capricorn!

  6. Hmmm, might keep the Gemini notes in mind while ‘out and about’ this year -being a June kid and also a Year of the Pig guy. 🙂
At any rate, I’ll be looking to make some new friendships, especially outside work life, in 2010.

    Cheers, Tim
