Fiona McIntosh was born and raised in Sussex in the UK, but also spent early childhood years in West Africa. She left a PR career in London to travel and settled in Australia in 1980. She has since roamed the world working for her own travel publishing company, which she runs with her husband. She lives in Adelaide with her husband and twin sons. I liked the whole series and I must say that with all the previews I have seen of this its going to be a hit. The cast of the Legend of the Seeker is very good. I think that Zed is the actor from the Mad Max film if I am not mistaken, if I am then I’ll eat my words.
The cast IS good – so lets hope we get this in Oz soon. I must admit, I went off the books after a while – but they may remedy some of the things that I didn’t like in a tv series … I hope.

the only thing resembling the books is that they got the names right. beyond that they ruined it.
Steve, would like to hear more about why you think it is ruined? Was it not an accurate depiction of the story?
For one… Richard doesn’t have the Book of Counted Shadows memorized… he’s never even heard of it before! And most importantly… TRUTH is not written on the hilt! It’s engraved on the sword. How is Richard supposed to get his “truth” imprint when grasping the sword?!
Yeah, from what I have seen it is a pretty poor recount of the story. Zedd is thousands of years old. Richards dad is still alive in the first episode atleast. A member of the quad survives the battle with Richard and Kahlan. How many more things are they going to get wrong, I mean, are they even going to make Richard a wizard, or send him to the palace of the prophets? Do they go to the Mud People? Tell me that isn’t an important piece of the story line.
Poor adaption to the book. As said already Richard has never heard of the Book of Counted Shadows let alone memorized it. The boxes of Orden have not yet come into play although this may just be to prolong the series as a whole. Just watched the episode where he meets Denna and when he killed her his sword didn’t flash white nor was the emphasis applied in the series that you feel whilst reading the book. I am considering not watching this show anymore that’s how crap it is.
